Dvořák Serenades

Saturday, August 5 · 8:00 pm · Music Shed

Over the last ten years the Norfolk Gala has proved to be a memorable summer event that provides both funding for Festival activities and a wonderful concert experience. This year we are more prominently featuring our outstanding Fellows alongside our Faculty on the Friday evening concerts. Keeping with that mission, the Gala is a great way to celebrate the Fellows, by showcasing them performing beautiful music on a pleasant August evening. Proceeds will support the next generation of musicians as they begin their careers, and help to preserve this critical art form for audiences in Norfolk and around the world for decades to come.

The finale of this year’s Dvořák Mini-Festival features
two enchanting works for large ensemble…

DVOŘÁK:  Sonatina in G Major, Op 100
DVOŘÁK:  Serenade in d minor for Wind Instruments, Cello and Bass, Op 44
and the charming…
DVOŘÁK:  Serenade in E Major for Strings, Op 22

with
Ransom Wilson  conductor,  Harumi Rhodes  violin,  Atar Arad  viola, Ole Akahoshi  cello, and Fellows of the Norfolk Festival

Proceeds from this concert will support scholarships for Norfolk Festival Fellows.
