Maverick Brass Quintet Places Third At Jeju International Brass Competition
The Maverick Brass Quintet (Norfolk ’17, ’18) has been awarded third prize at 14th Jeju International Brass & Percussion Competition.
A member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions since 1999, Jeju is the only competition in the world that holds with awards for entire brass divisions including horn, trumpet, tenor trombone, bass Trombone, euphonium, tuba, and brass quintet.
Formed in 2015, the Maverick Brass Quintet is comprised of musicians from Australia and New Zealand. Since its inception, its members (Connor Jenkinson and Oscar Mason, trumpet – Isaac Shieh, horn – David Farrell trombone – Alexander Jeantou, tuba) have emerging international profiles and have performed with renowned ensembles and orchestras, from Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to Le Concert Impromptu, and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
